the head unit with aftermarket and the same with the speakers (existing speaker wiring can be used). Good aftermarket items should be of better quality than the stock Bose equipment - so hard to justify spending a lot to keep it going.
PS - There was someone on eBay selling a replacement capacitor kit for the Bose speaker boxes years back. A number of capacitors go bad over time (on speaker box amp circuit boards) and they need to be replaced. Something you could do yourself but time consuming and assumes some basic electronic skills....
